Background: John O'Reily
After graduating using punch cards on U-M's mainframes, John started
learning the ropes in a medium-sized manufacturing company. Seven years
later, he moved from his General Manager's post to form a computer
integration firm assisting similar firms with their PDP-11's & VAX's.
A market shift occurred
with the introduction of the PC in the 1990's. This fueled his interest
in the advantages of distributed computing using intelligent workstations
and networking. As a commercial Business Partner, the firm specialized
in mid-range computers (System 38, AS/400 and LAN's). Accounting and
management applications were implemented in numerous manufacturing
settings, towns/cities and provincial/state governments- Public Health-
Law Enforcement and related agencies. In particular, computer security
was always a high priority when working with Client/Patient, Customer
records, personnel data and strategic information. We conduct "anonymous" Privacy audits and training for select Municipalities and Public Health service providers on contract to help them comply with Privacy needs and computer security. For further information, please contact us.
From
personal experience, I did not appreciate the importance of my own
privacy until my identity was stolen in the late 1990's. It started
innocently enough- when I placed an order for a gift. The site and
company were a front for stealing card card information. They had no
intention of ever delivering a product and before I knew it my identity
was being sold openly. The rest is history and a nightmare I would
prefer to forget. Therefore, I would strongly suggest there is a growth
need for all of us to protect our own privacy & not to rely on
others to safeguard it.
John is a firm believer
in the practical use of computer automation - not just more technology
for technology's sake. He has purchased & integrated
millions of dollars worth of hardware and software. He knows the difference
between a computer system that works for you vs against you.
He has and does serve
on several Board of Directors- both private & non-profit.
Along with the rest of our Staff, John stays current on developments
in systems technologies and legislative changes- as they apply to computer
privacy & security. We are "..always on the lookout for new,
innovative and proven technology to assist you in protecting you at home
and work."
