Client Access License (CAL)
Choose the CALs that make the most sense from a technology and cost perspective-mix and match the SBS CAL Suite and SBS CAL Suite for Premium Users or Devices to achieve the most cost-effective CAL package;
With device CALs, you acquire a CAL for every device, such as laptops, desktop computers, and Microsoft Windows Mobile-based pocket PCs and smartphones;
Device CALs make economic and administrative sense for organizations with multiple employees who access the network from a single device;
Each device that accesses the Windows Small Business Server 2008 server will consume a CAL;
CALs can be reallocated if a device is retired; With user CALs, you acquire a CAL for individuals who are given named access to your server, allowing them to access the server from any device;
User CALs make the most sense for organizations with many roaming employees who need access to the corporate network from mobile devices, or employees who use multiple devices to access the network;
User CALs can be reallocated if a reassignment is permanent, and can also be temporarily reassigned if the user is on leave or if the device is disabled
